Tracking Your Six Degrees

When I first conceived of this site, I immediately imagined how technology could be used to track your six degrees or the connections between you and any person in the world within 6 steps.

The way I track people you refer is by giving you a link when you sign up that you can then send out to your network. Every person who signs up with your link is one degree removed from you!

For instance, let's imagine that you sign up today and we send you a link that you then send out to your entire network (nudge...nudge). One of the people in your network named Jane is instantly excited by the Six Degrees of Giving vision and signs up. Jane is now one degree separated from you.

Next, lets image that Jane's husband Rick signs up after clicking on Jane's link. Now Rick is two degrees separated from you. Imagine this continues on from Rick to Wing to Greta to Abraham to Deepak who is now six degrees of separation from you.

After the first degree or two, you will not likely even know the people who are now in our system thanks to your original act of sending a link to Jane.

In fact, it is conceivable that by the time you have people who are six degrees removed from you, there could be people in our database connected to you which live on every continent on the planet.

So why do we collect this information?

I believe that behind every miracle is an incredibly rich and multifaceted story. It's my hope that by keeping track of the six degrees that connect people I might be able to investigate and share the stories that lead from you to Deepak, to a wish fulfilled, to the six degrees of people leading to a person with "make it happen" power.

I hope to trace a little bit of the magic of the infinite network as it interconnects the lives of people with giving hearts and one in need of such grace.
